Opportunity for local female artists to have their artwork held and sold in Manchester Central Library
We are inviting local artists to design a powerful piece of artwork that celebrates self-expression, confidence, and female empowerment. This competition encourages artists to tell a story through their work, supported by a short-written reflection explaining the meaning and inspiration behind their design.
Artistic Focus
There are no fixed selection criteria; however, we strongly encourage submissions that explore:
- Female empowerment
- Inner creative expression
- Personal identity and storytelling
All artwork must be suitable for public display within a council building.
Who Can Apply
This opportunity is open to local aspiring artists and students from East Salford. Successful artists will have their work professionally showcased and given the opportunity to sell their artwork.
Exhibition Opportunity
Selected artworks will be displayed at Manchester Central Library for approximately three months, offering significant public exposure.
Key Dates
- Competition opens: Friday 6th February
- Competition closes: Friday 6th March
- Selection made: Monday 9th March
- Successful artists notified: Wednesday 11th March
Creation Workshops
If your design is selected, you will be invited to attend two in-person art sessions at Langworthy Cornerstone during the week commencing Monday 23rd March.
- These sessions will allow you to bring your design to life using paint and other media
- Exact dates and times will be confirmed based on participant availability
- Applicants must be available during this week to take part. If you are successful but unavailable during this week, you may submit an artwork designed at home at your own cost.
Exhibition Dates
The final exhibition will run at Manchester Central Library from:
- Tuesday 14th July to Friday 25th September
Artwork will remain on display for the full exhibition period unless sold.
Sales & Commission
- If your artwork is sold, you will receive 75% of the sale price
- 25% will go towards Langworthy Cornerstone to help cover project costs
- A signed consignment agreement is required to be able to exhibit your artwork
