Her Story: Women into Visual Art and Enterprise Exhibition

A brilliant showcase of artwork by women from Salford and Nigeria, “Her Story” is the culmination of over two years of hard work. The exhibition brings an idea from Nigeria to Salford, where it has flourished.

Inspiring Beginnings

The programme was inspired by an innovative art and empowerment initiative in Nigeria that used art as a catalyst for growth and ensured financial benefits for the artists. This led to the creation of the Women into Visual Art and Enterprise (WIVA) programme in Salford.

Programme Goals

The core goal was to help women understand the power of their creativity, identify growth opportunities, build support networks, and receive mentoring from experienced professionals in art and enterprise.

Collaborative Success

In September 2023, working with Collabo2Succeed Ltd, Langworthy Cornerstone secured funding to deliver the first successful sessions. The resulting striking and original artwork was featured in the “SisterArt Exhibition,” marking the first joint collaboration between women artists in Salford and Lagos, Nigeria.

'Her Story' – Women Into Visual Arts Exhibition

10–26 March 2025 | University of Salford, New Adelphi Gallery

The 2025 WIVA exhibition celebrated local women with little or no prior experience. Participants explored creativity through 4–6 weeks of mentorship in art and business workshops. Now part of Salford CVS ‘Whose Art, Whose Culture’, all proceeds went to the artists.

Held to honor International Women’s Day. Highlighted creativity and enterprise of women artists with paintings, digital works, and mixed media. Visitors experienced a vibrant showcase reflecting stories and heritage.
