Langworthy Cornerstone Awarded £5,000 to Support Greater Manchester’s Live Well Vision
New funding will help bring affordable food, community connection and wellbeing opportunities to residents in Salford.
Langworthy Cornerstone Association (LCA) is delighted to announce its involvement in the Live Well Community Wellbeing Fund 2026, delivered in partnership with Emmaus, with support from Salford CVS and the Greater Manchester Live Well initiative.
Through this funding, LCA has received £5,000 to support the development of its Live Well Café and related community wellbeing activities at Langworthy Cornerstone Centre in Salford.
The award represents an important opportunity for LCA to strengthen its work supporting local people, build on its community-centred approach and contribute to the wider ambition of helping people across Greater Manchester live healthier, more connected lives.
Bringing the Live Well vision into our community
The Greater Manchester Live Well initiative focuses on supporting people and communities to improve wellbeing through accessible, community-based support and stronger local connections.
At Langworthy Cornerstone, we believe that living well begins with having opportunities to connect, feel welcome, access affordable food and participate in activities that support everyday wellbeing.
Our Live Well Café has been developed around these principles. It will provide a welcoming environment where residents can enjoy an affordable meal, meet others and strengthen their connection with the local community.
We are proud that our involvement is supported through the Live Well Community Wellbeing Fund 2026, recognising the opportunity to contribute to this wider initiative through our local work.
Introducing the Live Well Café
The Live Well Café will officially launch on Monday 2 November 2026, offering a three-course meal for just £2, served approximately between 12pm and 1pm.
The café aims to make a welcoming community space available to people who may benefit from affordable food, social interaction and opportunities to engage with local wellbeing activities.
Its development has already brought people together behind the scenes. Ten volunteers are involved in the project, with five completing food hygiene training and five working in the kitchen.
Their contribution reflects the importance of volunteering, shared responsibility and community participation in making local services sustainable and welcoming.
A practice session will take place ahead of the public launch to help the team prepare for the opening and ensure the café is ready to welcome residents.
More than a meal: building connection and wellbeing
Food provides an opportunity to bring people together. For many residents, a community café can also offer a friendly place to meet others, develop relationships and feel more connected to their neighbourhood.
Alongside the café, LCA plans to host monthly Thrive sessions on the first Monday of each month, supported through the Live Well initiative, Salford CVS and Emmaus.
These sessions will provide further opportunities for residents to engage with wellbeing activities and connect with others in a supportive community setting.
Together, the café and Thrive sessions will help LCA build on its existing work as a community hub, bringing people, activities and local support together under one roof.
A proud milestone for Langworthy Cornerstone
This funding is a significant milestone for LCA. It gives us an opportunity to develop our community wellbeing offer while contributing to the wider Live Well vision across Greater Manchester.
As a charity rooted in the local community, we recognise that improving wellbeing involves more than delivering individual activities. It also means creating welcoming spaces, supporting volunteers, encouraging participation and helping people build meaningful connections.
We are grateful to the Live Well Community Wellbeing Fund, Emmaus and Salford CVS for supporting this work and look forward to seeing the positive difference the project can make.
Most importantly, we look forward to welcoming local residents into the Live Well Café and continuing to work alongside our volunteers, partners and community to make Langworthy a place where people feel connected, supported and able to thrive.
