Langworthy cornerstone Volunteering program

about tHE program

We offer an enriching 16-week Volunteer Programme designed to provide practical experience and valuable skill development for individuals in the community. The program is open to everyone aged 18 and above, particularly those looking to upskill. The Aim of our Volunteer program is to support community members with necessary skills and experience to get them Job-ready. The program is free and funded.

Key Features

Induction (6 weeks): Volunteers will gain hands-on experience and 1-1 support with certification opportunities in essential areas such as safeguarding, food hygiene, fire safety, and first aid.
Experience (7 weeks): Volunteers will engage in various tasks such as customer assistance, working in the Café and Food Club, supporting art exhibitions, and contributing to the Centre’s social media and website.
Pathway Support (2 weeks): Volunteers receive guidance on career development, including CV writing, interview skills, job applications, and confidence-building.
End of Programme: Final week where Participants will celebrate their achievements, receive certificates, and benefit from continuous support and opportunities for future growth within the voluntary sector.

'I began volunteering at Langworthy Cornerstone in January 2023 after completing healing therapy through Survivors Manchester and support sessions with Talk About It Mate. Seeking meaningful engagement, I joined Salford Litter Heroes, initially focusing on litter picking/cleaning the area around the Centre and other Salford areas.

The Centre Coordinator, Karen quickly recognized my efforts, offering encouragement, support, and access to key services like the food club. Though hesitant to formally apply as a volunteer, Karen’s flexibility allowed me to choose my own hours and tasks, easing me into the role.

My confidence grew further with the support of Volunteer Coordinator, Ian Welch, who helped me find an adaptive role within the Centre. The unwavering encouragement from Karen, Ian, and Project Manager, Estelle, has been life changing.

Today, I am the proud founder & chairman of Love Your Planet Salford, my own green-environment initiative, and leader of Clean-Hub Salford. With the continued support of this incredible team, I look forward to growing my leadership skills and contributing to the Centre’s long-term vision and success.'

A Truly Enriching and Supportive Volunteer Experience!

I had the privilege of volunteering at this community centre for a few months, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredibly supportive and enriching environment I found there. The staff are truly exceptional, and their dedication made my time volunteering an invaluable experience.

I particularly want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Ian, the Volunteer Coordinator, who was instrumental in guiding me and ensuring I had all the resources I needed. His kindness and clear direction made me feel welcome and confident from day one.

Lola, the Data and CRM Administrator, was also incredibly helpful, always ready to assist with any questions and making sure I learned the ropes effectively. Her patience and expertise were truly appreciated. And to Celina, thank you for your constant encouragement and for creating such a positive atmosphere.
