Summary
- Contract: Part-time, Permanent
- Hours: 20 hours per week
- Pay: £13.45 per hour

Overview:
Are you a reliable, approachable and community-minded security professional?
Langworthy Cornerstone Association is looking for an SIA Security Officer to join our team on a temporary basis. You will play an important role in helping to keep our Centre, staff, volunteers and community safe while providing a friendly and reassuring presence for everyone who visits.
This is more than simply securing a building. Langworthy Cornerstone is a busy community hub supporting people of all ages and backgrounds, and we are looking for someone who understands the importance of being professional, approachable and respectful.
About the role:
The SIA Security Officer will help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment at Langworthy Cornerstone.
You will work alongside staff and volunteers, support the safe operation of the Centre and respond appropriately to security concerns or incidents.
We would particularly welcome applications from people who live locally or have a good understanding of Langworthy, Seedley, Weaste and the surrounding Salford communities.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- A valid SIA licence.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A reliable, professional and responsible approach to work.
- A friendly and approachable manner.
- Ability to remain calm and confident when dealing with challenging or difficult situations.
- Ability to work respectfully with people of different ages, backgrounds and circumstances.
- Good awareness of security, health and safety procedures.
- Ability to follow agreed procedures and report incidents appropriately.
- Ability to work positively with staff, volunteers, visitors and Centre users.
- Ability to complete a DBS check, with support provided.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include:
- Maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, volunteers, visitors and Centre users.
- Monitoring access to the Centre and supporting appropriate visitor and security procedures.
- Carrying out regular checks of the building and reporting any concerns.
- Responding appropriately to incidents, disturbances or security concerns.
- Supporting the safe opening and closing of the Centre where required.
- Providing a visible, calm and reassuring presence within the building.
- Liaising with staff and managers regarding security, safety or operational concerns.
- Recording and reporting incidents in accordance with Centre procedures.
- Supporting emergency procedures and responding appropriately to alarms or other emergencies.
- Ensuring security procedures are followed consistently.
- Working positively and respectfully with Centre users, including vulnerable people and community groups.
- Contributing to a welcoming, inclusive and community-focused environment.
- Carrying out other reasonable security-related duties in line with the needs of the Centre.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a valid SIA Security Licence.
- Have previous experience working in a security, Door Supervisor or similar role.
- Have experience dealing calmly and professionally with challenging situations.
- Be confident communicating with members of the public.
- Have good awareness of health and safety and emergency procedures.
- Be familiar with standard security procedures, CCTV monitoring, and general alertness.
- Be reliable, punctual and professional.
- Be approachable and comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Be able to work independently.
- Have an understanding of or connection to the local Salford community.
- Have experience working in a community centre, charity, public building or similar environment (desirable but not essential).
