Commitment: Flexible (agreed session times) Mon-Fri, 9.30am – 3.30pm, 27th July – 28th August 2026
We’re currently looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to support our upcoming school holiday activity programme for local children and families.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in your community, gain experience, and help create fun, positive experiences for young people.
About the role
As a volunteer, you’ll be helping with a variety of activities, including:
- Arts and crafts
- Games and sports
- Outdoor play and trips
- Group activities and workshops
- Setting up sessions and helping with refreshments
You’ll play an important part in creating a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved.
What we’re looking for
We’d love to hear from people who are:
- Friendly, reliable, and positive
- Enjoy working with children and families
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Willing to get stuck in and have fun
No previous experience is required, just enthusiasm and a willingness to help.

The programme runs during school holidays, with flexible shifts available; Mon-Fri, 9.30am – 3.30pm

What’s involved?
- Supporting or facilitating book club sessions in a welcoming and inclusive way
- Encouraging participation and respectful discussion in a friendly, non-judgemental environment
- Supporting participants to share ideas, opinions, and reflections at their own pace
- Helping to select or suggest reading materials that are accessible and engaging
- Supporting with basic session set-up and tidy-up where needed
- Collecting attendance information and informal feedback to help us understand and celebrate the impact of the book club
- Following Langworthy Cornerstone policies and procedures to ensure all activities are safe, inclusive, and welcoming
Our Book Club Volunteers are:
- Friendly, approachable, and comfortable supporting group discussions
- Good listeners who value different perspectives
- Passionate about reading and supporting others
- Inclusive, patient, and encouraging
- Reliable and committed
Time commitment
- This is a flexible role that can fit around your availability
- Sessions typically last around 1–2 hours
- We ask for a commitment to attend agreed sessions to provide consistency for participants
