- Hours: 9am-3pm
- Pay: £13.45 per hour
- Location: Langworthy, Salford M6 5QQ
- Closing Date: July 17th, Interviews commence: W/B 20th July
Overview:
Are you passionate about good food, community, and creating a welcoming space for all? Within our Jigsaw Café, we are looking for a flexible and reliable Catering Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis during a busy time this summer.
About the role:
The Café Assistant will support the day-to-day operation of the café, helping to provide a positive customer experience and ensuring the café remains clean, safe, welcoming and well organised.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Good communication skills.
- A positive and professional approach to customers, staff and volunteers.
- Awareness of food hygiene, cleanliness and safe working practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and agreed procedures.
- Reliability and flexibility during the summer period.
- Experience supporting volunteers desirable, but not essential
- Ability to complete a DBS check (support provided)
kEY Responsibilities
Duties may include:
- Serving customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Preparing and serving drinks, snacks and simple food items.
- Supporting basic food preparation in line with agreed café procedures.
- Taking payments and following cash handling procedures.
- Keeping the café, kitchen and service areas clean and tidy.
- Following food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen procedures.
- Supporting volunteers where appropriate.
- Helping with stock rotation, labelling and basic café checks.
- Reporting any issues or concerns to the appropriate manager.
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive and community-focused café environment.
Ideal Candidate
- Has a Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate.
- Experience of working in a café, kitchen, catering or customer-facing role.
- Experience of working in a community, charity or volunteer-supported setting.
- Awareness of allergens and basic food safety requirements.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing daily needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable to use a POS system and cash handling.
