Purpose and Objectives of Post Summer Play Leader 15 Days

To lead a summer play scheme delivering varied fun and play activities including a variety of creative activities, organised play sessions, and outings for children aged between 6 -11 years old, based at Langworthy Cornerstone, in and around Salford.

Langworthy Cornerstone is a charity, and a Healthy Living Centre located at the corner of Liverpool Street and Langworthy Road, easily accessible by Bus, and Tram. During late July and through August 2025 we will be providing a three day a week Holiday Boot Camp, open to younger children from our local community.

The focus of our holiday provision is to ensure children receive a healthy breakfast and lunch and have access to positive play experiences / creative and craft activity / visits to local venues of interest / and participation in our children’s art workshops. We have a planned programme of activities and external practitioners will also participate in the programme delivering dance and creative activities. Trips are planned to Soft Play Centres, local orienteering venues and local parks.

We want this to be a fun packed summer holiday programme engaging with children from our local communities. Our activities will be supported by volunteers, from our Volunteer Programme.

Our programme runs for 15-days and will commence from Tuesday 29^th July running until Thursday 28^th August inclusive and we are looking to recruit a casual employee to lead in the delivery of a range of play activities, including crafts, music and arts, trip and visit to places of interest for the age group specified.

We are looking for someone who:

• Level 2/3 Certificate, Diploma in Childcare
• Has an up-to-date Safeguarding Level 3 Certificate, GDPR, First Aid, or will be prepared complete this training prior to the programme commencing.
• Demonstrates good organisational skills
• Demonstrates good communication skills
• Is able to demonstrate enthusiasm and lead volunteers who will support the programme
• Has the ability to work without supervision
• Has the ability to set up planned sessions according to the needs / abilities of the children
• Is able to complete required monitoring information
• Consistently demonstrates LCA’s values and behaviours

Main Duties of the role are:

1. To work as part of small team in planning and delivering our summer play programme
2. To ensure that all activities undertaken are appropriate for the ages and abilities of the children
3. Consult with children when planning activities
4. To ensure the health and safety, safeguarding of children and volunteers during the programme
5. To take account of and care for equipment and materials used
6. To participate in our induction training process
7. To complete relevant paperwork associated with the programme enabling us to provide accurate and concise monitoring of our activities
