I was the very first manager at LCA, worked here from 2001 \u2013 2004 and then became Chairperson for 8 years so I know and love the Centre, its purpose for local people and I'm back again as CEO after a challenging period for many of us following Covid. Ready to lead the Centre into a more settled time, to meet the needs and fulfil the mission of the Centre, the needs of residents and users of the Centre and develop new activities, support more groups, engage more staff, extend caf\u00e9 opening hours, maintain the quality of Centre activity and ensure its sustainability. I have worked on many projects in Salford and supported hundreds of local people in volunteering, training and employment. I was a Senior lecturer in Leadership and Management, a business manager, Director and I have over 30 years of management experience in the VCSE sectors. I was a founder of Salford City Radio, Creative Industry in Salford, and Salford Film Festival, and have supported many small to medium enterprises towards achieving sustainability. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, was born and bred in Salford on Liverpool Street so I returned to work in the same Community and street I was born\u2026just a few years ago.<\/p>\n \n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Karen Dyson<\/h5>\n \n Centre Co-Ordinator<\/span>\n \n

I have lived most of my life in the area around Langworthy and Seedley. I was born just of Cross Lane before moving to the Seedley area. Where I spent my younger and teenage years. I moved across to the other side of the Ship canal for a little while but am now back living within the community of Seedley. I am very proud to be the Co-ordinator at Langworthy Cornerstone and to serve in the community in which I live. When I\u2019m not in work, I am often out and about in the Countryside in my little car, camping and exploring with friends. I love nothing more than warming my feet by a camp fire. Just so you don\u2019t need to ask I sit firmly in the Reds camp!<\/p>\n \n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I am Chair at Langworthy Cornerstone, and I have been part of the Board of Trustees since 2012. Since 1998, I have always been a community worker and\/or a volunteer in different groups and organisations in London and Salford. I am now a Lecturer in Arabic Cultural Studies at the University of Manchester. I have lived in Cheetham Hill for over 15 years, an area which bridges Salford and Manchester. I am the Administrator and Finance Director at visible Outcomes 4U\nElected Councillor for Weaste and Seedley in Salford.\nI also currently am the Treasurer (Trustee): Langworthy cornerstone Association. \nGraduated at the University of Salford with MSc International Banking and Finance, Bsc Hons in Business Economics.\nI have more than 10 years\u2019 experience in support and leading different community\u2019s in Greater Manchester. \nWith financial and Economic background skills. I gained experience in finance and management to support and manager diverse communities.\nI also worked in IT department to analyse and transferring database information. \n\nI worked in partnership with greater Manchester Borough and Charities to support and help Refugees, Migrants, BAME communities to access mainstream services. <\/p>\n \n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Safieh Eskandari<\/h5>\n \n Trustee<\/span>\n \n

My name is Safieh Eskandari, and I moved to the UK in 2011 with my son to reunite with my refugee husband. We settled in Salford, where I began learning English at Salford City College and later completed studies in Social Science, Community Development, and an MSc in Social Care, Health, and Wellbeing. I have 40 years of job experience. I currently work with the Public Health Inequality Improvement Team at Salford City Council, where we build trusted relationships with emerging and underserved communities to drive system change and reduce health inequalities using Quality Improvement (QI) techniques. We also create innovative solutions to improve access to services. I am also the Director of Community Doosti, an organisation founded in 2013 to support asylum seekers, refugees, and local families with social wellbeing. Additionally, I have volunteered with the Red Cross and Refugee Action in the UK. I also served for five years on an NGO board in Iran, supporting asylum-seeking children and addressing issues like child labour, education, and health. My background in environmental health includes roles as a health teacher and hygiene inspector<\/p>\n \n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I am a strategic leader with over a decade of experience in senior operational and marketing roles, supporting NGOs, charities, and public sector clients through impactful, values-driven initiatives. My expertise includes organisational leadership, digital transformation, brand strategy, and stakeholder engagement. As Trustee and Treasurer of Langworthy Cornerstone, I bring strong governance, compliance, and financial oversight, alongside a deep commitment to civic life and community impact.\n\nIn my personal life, I am deeply involved in civic life. Dr. Emma Barnes<\/h5>\n \n Trustee<\/span>\n \n

Emma brings to the Board of Trustees, her passion and knowledge about the learning created by communities of Global Majority countries. \nAfter completing her PhD in World Literatures in English in 2022, Emma first became a Lecturer in Nineteenth Century and World Literatures. Emma is currently a Knowledge Exchange Fellow at the University of Salford - which is only a short walk away from Langworthy Cornerstone Association. \nEmma is also a member of the community group, Southern Voices, who aim to bring the knowledge and understanding of Southern* and Black* people to the global issues that are central to education and to living in the world today. Emma first began working with the Langworthy Cornerstone Association as part of a collaboration to co-produce the Women into Visual Arts and Enterprise Exhibition in March 2025, and Emma hopes to be part of many more LCA events.<\/p>\n \n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
